FAQs

  • Maritime NYC builds brand strategy and communications infrastructure for New York's maritime and waterfront industry. Working with operators whose businesses are built on the water, Maritime NYC identifies the positioning gaps, narrative opportunities, and communications direction that translate what they have built into something broader audiences care about.

  • Maritime NYC works with businesses whose core identity is inseparable from New York's waterways. Ferry operators, marinas, sailing schools, water taxi companies, charter services, and floating experience venues are just a few examples.

If the water is the focus and not just the backdrop, Maritime NYC was built for that business.

  • Every engagement begins with an intake questionnaire followed by an initial consultation to determine whether the fit is mutual. From there Maritime NYC delivers a scoped proposal outlining the engagement, deliverables, timeline, and investment. Work begins after a signed agreement and deposit are received. The full process is outlined on the Services page.

  • Pricing depends entirely on the scope of the engagement. Maritime NYC does not publish rates because no two engagements are identical. The intake process exists to define what the right scope looks like before any investment conversation takes place.

  • The Brand Audit is a focused project with a defined timeline agreed at proposal stage. The Communications Roadmap covers a 90 day direction. The Advisory Retainer is an ongoing monthly engagement with no fixed end date. Timelines for all engagements are confirmed in the proposal before work begins.

  • The Brand Audit identifies where a business currently stands: its positioning, its gaps, and the narrative opportunities it is not yet capturing. The Communications Roadmap takes those findings and builds a specific 90 day direction for what to do about them.

The Audit diagnoses. The Roadmap directs. And The Roadmap requires the Audit first.

  • Item descriptionMaritime NYC does not manage social media accounts or handle day to day posting. The work is strategic: building the framework, the calendar, the content direction, and the narrative that makes social media worth doing well. Execution support is available as a separately scoped add-on for retainer clients where it makes sense.

  • Traditional agencies are built for scale and generalist reach. Maritime NYC is built for depth and industry specificity. Every engagement comes with direct access to a strategist with over a decade of global brand experience and a lifelong connection to the maritime world. There is no separation between account manager for the client and the strategic thinking.

  • Clients who complete the Roadmap have a clear picture of where their brand should be headed and what it needs to get there. Some choose to execute independently. Others move into the Advisory Retainer to maintain strategic momentum. There is no obligation to continue and no pressure to do so. The Roadmap is designed to be valuable whether or not the relationship continues.

  • Maritime NYC works with consumer lifestyle brands seeking to reach New York Harbor's audience through content and strategic partnerships. This is a distinct offering from the maritime business consultancy work and operates on a separate engagement model. Brands interested in partnership content are welcome to reach out through the Contact page.

  • Most content about New York Harbor is made from the shore. Maritime NYC operates from inside the industry, with direct relationships with the operators, the waterways, and the community that makes this world function. The perspective is not observational, it’s earned.
